Immigration is helping Spain achieve a strong economic recovery, with GDP per capita increasing by 2.9% between 2022 and 2024. Foreign workers filled about 45% of new jobs created during this period.
The Spanish government plans to regularize around 900,000 undocumented migrants over the next three years. In addition, residence and work permits will be granted to approximately 25,000 migrants affected by the floods in Valencia.
New Immigration Regulation in force – May 20, 2025 Royal Decree 1155/2024, approved in November 2024, came into force this year. It introduces changes to facilitate family reunification, residence permits (including “arraigo”), student visas and work permits.
